The diagram includes the battery, alternator, rectifier, ammeter, lighting switch, dipper switch, magneto, magneto cut-off switch, horn, horn push, stop light switch, headlamp main and dip beams, pilot light, tail light and speedometer illumination circuit. Switch rotor positions are shown for Off, Pilot and Head settings, together with wire colour references throughout.
Important Model Note
This schematic has been confirmed as applicable to a 1962-build Norton Atlas 750, frame number 102833, and is likely applicable through 1963, or until the Zener diode charging system was introduced in 1964.
There is also a draftsman’s error in the schematic, and at least one original Atlas wiring harness was built to include that error. The wire designated NP on contact 3 of the lighting switch is technically incorrect, as it shares the same contact with wire designated NW. Wires sharing a common connection should normally share a common designation.
Norton appears to have corrected this before the 1964 model wiring schematic, where the NP wire is replaced by NW. Exactly when this change was made, and at what frame number, is unknown or no longer recorded. Owners working on 1962 to late-1963 machines should therefore be aware that the NP wire may or may not be present.
