Nice weather today, if a bit blustery, decided to take the old "7" replica out for a spin, always admired the original but, by the time I could buy one, couldn't justify the price tag. Considering the guiet roads, the wind in your hair, no drivers aides and your rear being inches off the tarmac, about as real as it gets. Once back in the shed and cooling off with a beer or two, I got to thinking, 3 grandsons, crackers one and all, what will they think of my shed full of ??????? 9, 6 & 4 and they all love trials biking, posh trackers, now elec. is the thing, can see their reasoning but can't help thinking, no oil, no smell, no misfires, no charm? The '08 trials bike I bought to encourage them has the forks my late 60's one had, but a better engine etc. My 21st century Triumph, reliable but boring, suits the chair. 21st century Harley, classy but not easy to ride. Street Scrambler, needs care to keep steady and the Norton, what a lump. Best of the bunch but will it get the care and attention required? Here's hoping they'll continue to develop well, appreciate that things are better if worked at and enjoy before it's all gone.

The wyfe and I were JUST talking about a couple of 4-wheelers for our kids & grandkids. Our 9-yr-old son only has one finger on his left hand, so a 4-wheeler would be a MUCH better idea than a mini-bike...

We bought a Mazda MX5 a couple of years ago (Miata to people over the pond) and a friend of ours said it was our 4 wheel motorbike.

We wanted something to just drive and not fettle. Have enough fettling to do with the bikes. :)

Trust me I understand, I have a Norton and a TVR! Had an MX5 for a long time, replaced with a Subaru BRZ. Most practical car I've ever owned.

i got a boxster, al the best parts of open air riding, but with a pop up roof when it rains.. but when the weather is nice the bikes are out to play

Although I have no first hand experience of, I was informed by a former Brit Royal Enfield rider that the original two seat Smart cars were: 'The closest thing to a bike on four wheels'. A few do appear on ebay with motorcycle engine conversions too..........

Give me a manual trans V8 NA half ton truck and turn me loose on the gravel back roads around where I live , only thing close for me , in past have had 4 jeeps and several 2 seat sport cars , currently jeep Gr Cherokee awd for my wife and I use Acura TL shawd , both great.... but for replacing a bike , I take V8 truck & gravel every time , throw in a cooler a shotgun or fishing gear , even better ..... no offence meant , we all free

They also make 3 wheelers, with a V twin engine on the front. A self build BRA fits this description also. They have their own website.

Yes it was the three wheelers I meant, very motorbike but very pricey at £34,000 and shame its a Harley engine.
