So I've got the rear fender all mounted, and I see where a duzse fastener is used as the rear retainer on the seat. What type if any grommets or washers are also used? Again, a picture would be greatly appreciated as none of the books I have show a clear shot and the parts book is less than helpful.
Thanks

Thank you for the picture. Whats confusing me is the parts books lists the fastener, a grommet for fastener, and a rubber washer for fastener. I'm assuming the grommet goes on the hole in the fender then? The rubber washer is there as both a buffer between the seat and fender and also to keep the fastener with the seat bracket with the seat off?

I will post a picture tomorrow, 2/17/20. I am not with my bike now.

I am the original owner, so I know my Dzus fastener is as original.

Mine does not have a grommet. There is a steel washer that is under the head of the Dzus screw. On the underside of the seat bracket, there is an approx 0.090" thick neoprene washer that acts as a buffer to the fender, and also keeps the Dzus screw in place.

Thanks Slick. So far this has been like putting a jigsaw puzzle together without the box top picture, some of the pieces missing and others thrown in that don't belong, but I'm getting there!

Slick, any chance you could post a picture of the bottom part attached to the fender. I have the Dzus screw but it seems very long, not sure how bottom part works. Thanks in advance.

Here is a couple of pics. Curly wire is riveted to holes in fender(underneath)
Mine has a grommet. Will try to get a pic after while.

The wire is riveted flush to the underside of the fender, as in Beach's picture.

The Dzus fastener has a coin slotted head 0.625" dia, and measures 0.837" overall, and 0.725" from the underside of the head to the end of the shaft. the steel washer measures 0.760" OD x 0.390" ID x 0.85" thick and is slightly convex. The neoprene washer is approx 1.025" OD x 0.3" ID x 0.090" thick.

The hole in the seat bracket is 0.435" dia. The dia of the Dzus fastener where it passes thru the seat bracket hole is 0.312" leaving a gap of 0.123", possibly enough for a grommet.

HTH,

Slick
