Does anyone know where the wiring connection for the front brake switch is please, on a '69 S David

Behind, underneath the headlamp shell. On the front brake cable is the switch. 2 Brown wires as memory serves me that go to the rear brake switch from that switch. The circuit in the book doesn't show exactly how it's hooked up, just the basic circuit. If you need, I can look at my bike for sure.

White wire carries (switched) power from the keyswitch to the brake light switch while the brown wire carries power from the brake light switch to the brake light. Typically the brown wire runs from the front brake switch to the rear brake switch, into a common spade with a second brown wire which continues to the brake light. This allows either the front switch or left foot pedal switch to activate the brake light.

Ron remembers better than I do. Sounds right to me. I do remember that double brown wire on the rear switch.

Depends on the wiring loom you have. I guess an original one does not provide the connecting wires in the main loom because there was no brake light switch in 1969.

1969 US models had "061076...Front brake cable complete with stop switch - USA ONLY" but no specific 'USA only' headlamp harness or additional stop switch section.

The 68-70 harnesses are one piece from front to back. The 71 on harnesses had a separate headlamp harness.
I used this one on my 1970 Commando:
https://www.classicbikeshop.co.uk/wiring-loom-harness-braided-norton-commandos-1968-69.html

It came with a connection for the front brake light switch and also indicator cables to the rear.
It is intended for a Fastback model, the cables for the zener diode are in the wrong place for a1969 S type.
On a Fastback the zener diode sits in front of the left hand side cover on a extra aluminium cooling disc.
On a S type or Roadster it is situated at the right hand footrest plate. I did not use it anyway because I
installed an electric rectifier/regulator unit.
I also used a micro switch under the brake lever and not the inline brake switch cable.

The new Wassell/Lucas harnesses have issues but they do come with a useful diagram for installation.

and this shows a brown and a white wire going to a front brake switch.

However they quote the Lucas part number as 54956250 not 54954277.

54956250 is the '69 ('R' and 'S' type) harness which appears to have superseded 54954277 as the 061076 "USA ONLY" brake cable with switch is also listed for the 1969 Fastback.

Edit:

The Classic Lucas 54956250 also includes indicator wires!

AN apparently sells the '68 54954277 harness as Norton part 06.8065 (and 06.8065BR braided) and 54956250 as 06.7264/06.7264BR. The Norton numbers are not in the parts book.

Actually too, there is a separate small harness that goes to the switch on the left handlebar. As I remember it originates from the headlamp shell.

Not so. I just finished rewiring my '69 'S'. The original harness had wiring for the front brake switch and the switch. This was a one owner when I got it and original owner did not replace the harness.

Yes, the harness for the Wipac Triconsul switch.
