For me, the Idaho green dot roads rank as the best roads Ive ever been on. My BMW riding friends felt the same way.
I've toured a lot in California, Montana, Oregon, Washington, Wyoming, BC and also the UK.
There are great roads in all of those places.
My friend Ian has toured the Alps , ridden Stelvio etc but rated this trip higher.

The Thruxton R really comes alive on these roads.

We just touched Idaho 2 or 3 times this last week, from Yellowstone; now in Laramie and headed back to Denver for the flight home.

BEAUTIFUL area. We rented a Slingshot and Harley Softail (they were all that was practical for swapping with my wife, or I would have taken a BMW instead of the HD)

What a great time we had with the kids, swapping out and seeing the sights over the Teton pass.

Sally actually handled the behemoth hog with her 5'2" frame and petite inseam, although we had to buy a kitchen hotpad and velcro strap it to her leg to prevent pipe burns whenever she'd put her feet down. $7 fix worked great.

A bit pricey, but way cheaper (hourly) than a horseback ride up a mountain and back!

Hwy 12 from Missoula, MT to Lewiston, ID.
217 miles and most of it follows a riverbank.
I've ridden it once in a cage, once on a Commando, and once on a Goldwing.
I would do it again.

At one point we stopped by a Roadsign that promised twisty roads for the next 77 miles!
And they were.
I found some even snakier roads in Oregon but the scenery was not on par with Idaho.
Then again, we were so hellbent on those Oregon roads that great scenery would have been wasted ..

That road that goes over the Sawtooths from Boise to Sun Valley.

Then, that one way road out of Boise and up to Bogus Basin.

ST. Joe River road. connects St. Maries in idaho to St. Regis in Montana. 100+mi of twist road posted at 25-40mph. I road it from St. Regis to St Mary's on my way to the Tall Timber Norton rally. only problem leaving St. Regis about the first 20mi are gravel.
