Z-Plate Mounting

When I began to work on this bike I noticed that years ago my dad had taken out the rear isolastic mount creating a sag in the bike. Shown below





I found the long rod that goes through the hole in a box of parts. Unfortunately it didn't have the same nuts that were regularly used on it.

Anyways, I jacked the cradle up and it aligned the holes for me so I slid the rod through but still don't know what spacers and what nuts to put on the ends, I've tried looking at pictures of bikes but had no luck. Can anyone find a decent picture of these nuts and spacers, then I will be able to search for them somewhere in the garage!

Pretty simple, there are two spacers which will fit the empty space. And two big nuts which fit the rear isolastic bolt (actually more like a stud as it's threaded at each end).

This stud is too long because I'm using aftermarket plates. But you can see the spacers and the nut is, well, a standard nut. 1/2-20, I think.

As Dave said, the nuts are 1/2 X 20tpi. I went down the hardware store and bought stainless nyloc nuts in fine thread. If you can't find the spacers, then it will be easier to just order some. Old Britts has them for 5.48 each, part number 060472. The nuts (plated) from Old Britts are 1.30, part number 063598.

There is also a 1/2" washer under the 2 - 1/2 inch nylocks.

The spacers are 0.542 thick, so best to get the original part. I picked up chromed 1/2 20 nyloc nuts at ACE Hardware. My spacers were chromed in '98 durng the restoration and the chrome nuts matched.

Thanks, that's exactly what I was looking for, I had a bunch of spacers and nuts I just wanted to make sure I had the right ones on there.
