This is a warning that bringing stuff I n fro UK through YouShop will probably cost you extra, as the VAT will be charged and YouShop don't handle that sort of transaction. Check First. I have just made a mistake. It may have cost me 35 GBP freight but I would have got a 30 GBP VAT credit. It instead cost me $60.00 plus gst for the YouShop freight plus the 30 GBP VAT.

Not sure what getting stuff from the US would be like. Maybe someone can let us Know.

Dereck, is that for the chains?
Did you see my PM about adding to your order/
Regards Mike

Andy will work out a good price for us I am sure. Lets see. It wont be coming via YouShop though. That big organisation should get itself organised to work for its customers. I don't see why they cant register as an exporter of goods from the UK. That's their loss though.

You know I am planning on retiring in NZ .... to expensive to live here in San Fransico on retirement funds and maintain a Norton.

The US youshop center is in Oregon, which has no GST so you won't be paying GST from a US shipment (sales taxes are state/local, not federal). You may have to pay NZ GST for big ticket items, though.

Murray Mclean was going through the "can i have my VAT back" process a while back after a similar issue.
He might be able to steer you in the right direction.
I do agree though that it would be better if Youshop were set up to avoid the issue.
I sat next to an NZ Post manager while flying for work a while back and had that discussion with him, hopefully he took it on board.
cheers

I use Shipito for US to UK, you fill the customs declaration yourself remotely, option for all paperwork in the package to be removed on repacking. Very good airfreight rates too.

Please give example of what you bought and its value and weight. What did you eventually pay. Including the freight and taxes if applicable I'm "guessing" that your in NZ and purchased item/s from UK ?? ..

I have had negative experience's buying from UK (including $2-300 items).. Not so much the exchange rate but the delivery time frame. In one case an "envelope" with stickers took 6 weeks tho posted 5 days after purchase. ?? to Aust.. Therefore i prefer purchasing from the US.. (cost? but i will get it in 10 days :D :D )
Most items i buy from US are here, delivered within 10 days sometimes 6 days?? Same price and sometime cheaper (AnoverN Parts), tracking availabe at all times (dont even think about tracking UK post.. Never worked for me 10x)

Filling in declarations etc ???????????????????????? Wtf.. never done that...
