My bike had a new ECU fitted a few weeks ago after the mounting lugs were accidentally broken at the dealer. Anyway the new ECU is a different brand (haven't removed the seat yet to see which). But having complained about the quality of the mapping in the past, (to rich, back fires while warming up etc). I finally got around to going for a decent ride today. Bike started instantly and settled into a solid idle - this never changed from cold to hot. Engine definitely feels like it's running much closer to optimum. As some will know from my previous posts I don't settle for subjective observations and the bike has been on the dyno on a number of occasions with various maps and pipes (graphs in previous posts). This is enough of a difference to warrant another dyno run - my gut feeling is we'll be seeing better numbers throughout the rev range.

Three hours to 2017 down here and I'm posting about my bike - I think I have my priorities just right. :) Although the beers are going down very nicely. Thank you Oregon I guess for starting the craft beer revolution that brought me the amazing Panhead APA Supercharger!

That sounds great. Do you know what map number they put in? I have to get my ECU back to Cylclespot to get the ECU reflashed to match the pipes, but I don't know what map number they will put into it and would like to get some info about what map number the bike should have with decat pipe and open reverse cone mufflers.

Cheers

Paul

There is a thread called MAP TALK. Hope this helps. On a phone so not easy to share the link. But the short answer is 2016 077 or 091 with a new ignition coil and racing wires from Colorado Norton Works

Oregon? What makes you think that? I always assumed it was Sam Adams in Boston MA that should be credited with such an honor.

Congrats on the new map! My re-map changed my outlook dramatically. :D

Hello Iwilson , I am very happy to hear that your bike is running great. I am most interested to hear about the new ECU . Was Your bike a 2015 and previously had the SC ECU ? And now you have been converted to the NEW 2016 OMEX ? Was a new or different wiring harness needed and installed ? Pictures would be superb . Any details would be much appreciated. Also , What's the weather like now down there ? Cold here. Tony

Tony I think you have that backwards. I believe Omex was used since 2010 or so, they are not new!

Omex delivered the ECU at least till 2012 for the Commando 961. I don't know about what happened after that...

I'll take the seat of for a look tomorrow. Pretty sure the old one was an OMEX.

Here's a shot of the old one (with missing mounting lug).

Wow

And as a side note... how on earth did the dealer manage to break that lug? Looks like it was bitten off!!

No idea, but before they agreed to replace it they managed to snap the other one off as well! The polish was breaking the mounting clip for the indicator relay. Funny thing was they were very reluctant to replace it, believing it was me. Doesn't say much about the integrity of whichever employee was responsible...

BPHORSEGUY, I believe TonyA is correct when he refers to the "NEW 2016 OMEX". Omex ecu's were used initially and Norton then changed to SC (2012/2013?). I have a 2013 961 with an SC ecu. I understand the Omex units are more flexible (tunable?) so Norton are again using Omex.

Hello , All black ECU box above looks like SC . That's what is in my 2014 Sport . If iwilson has been converted to 2016 NEW OMEX , that is great news for older machines upgrading I hope .

I wish Simon or someone could jump in here and clear this up for us, so there are 3 possibilities now? I am more confused now then ever. If they are compatable I would price a spare!
