By fate of miss communication Ms Peel engine got Swain's Black Body Emission coating over Entire engine - head to bottom of the cases. Bright fasteners may help high light the dark lump somewhat, but thinking about heat and vanity wondering about a Diamond Edge job. They've gone to robo CNC edging for big twins. Don't know if they can or would set up for a Norton head, but I'm gonna send em these 2 head shots and see what they say. I love Nortons engine ascetics, especially the head fin functional angles. Claimed to aid heat loss - so I could claim pure thermodynamic reasons. Feedback appreciated on this process.

Would Diamond Egde make head look too fat?

Well it's just my personal opin but I think the diamond edge is to bling bling. Kind of like encrusting your gages with rhinestones. However the blacked out engine might not be to bad, look at the diff between a Vincent black shadow & standard models. I like both. The diamond though crosses the line from clean/polished utility to showy bling. Maybe if just the edge was cleaned up but nut over done it wouldn't look out of place. Just my thoughts, some may like it. I changed my mind and let Buchanons polish my rear hubs edges when I had my wheels built & it really bugs me. To me it's not a part that should shine that much and I'm trying to find out how to dull the shine without disassembling the whole wheel but that's a later project, I still have a lot of other more important things to do. Did they black out your primary case too?Glenn.

As with anything, you gotta figure out the entire package, so it really depends on what you build around it that will determine whether or not it looks odd. As for the polish on the wheels...I wouldn't think that should be a problem, just come ride on the roads around here and they will dull up real fine.

PS- as for heat dissipation, I am hardly an expert but I wonder why radiators are always painted black?

Ok, GT and Russ, you reflect my feeling on seeing whole big twin twinkling like kids aluminum costume jewelry. My first plan is just shine the edges of head to draw attention the its Buck Rodgers profile. On the Al barrel I'd thought to lighten the deep recesses on the bore itself not the fin edges. But don't think I could paint that w/o it looking like old woman make up going out of bounds : (

I'm a bit up on thermo-physics. Polished surfaces act like mirrors on both sides, so as well as reflecting visible light back at the eyes it also reflects Infrared back into engine. Bunch of polished facets seem to me to just reflect heat back like a dance hall mirror ball. I assume the D-edge claim to heat help only applies to powder coated engines that block heat flow - rather than Swain's coating that assists it. Swain developed some of the anti-friction and thermal coats NASA to NASCAR use.

I want Peel be colorful and bright for the most part not dull and dark and mean looking. I want the frame to be light color and stumbled on thermo-color change paint, which might be fun to see as OIF frame heats and hopefully flows.
