I have a dead short on the 2 brown-green wires coming off of the #3 position on the master switch.I can follow the 1
going up to a 2 pole connector in the headlight shell, but I dont understand where the other one goes.Any help would
be appreciated.

Thanks LAB.This short is probably the cause of all my charging problems.

I am getting continuity on both wires (brown-green) from the master switch to ground.Everything else disconnected.
Is this no good? I separated the 2 wires and still got continuity on each one separately.Am I overlooking something or
is my short further down the line.? YING

You will get continuity if the bulbs (pilot, tail, instrument) are fitted.

I disconnected the feeds to both bulbs. No continuity between tail light ,but still continuity at connector in headlight
shell. Is this the correct way to check for a short ?

Both bulbs (pilot, tail)? What about the two instrument bulbs?

A short could occur anywhere right up to the bulb holder (or even within the bulb itself) so it depends where you did the disconnecting.

A dead short in a lighting circuit would be more likely to blow the fuse than to be the cause of charging problems, I would think?

Have you tried disconnecting the assimilator as that can cause charging problems. You could also try disconnecting the 2MC capacitor, if fitted (remove the ground wire) and see if charging improves.
