Just ordered a timing cover mounted Hunt mag from JS Motorsport (thanks Jim) and wanting to wire it so that the ignition switch shuts down the engine. My 69 had a Hunt mag mounted behind the right side cylinder and was wired that way. I think it used two relays in the circuit. I cant remember how it was wired as it was about 20 years ago I had the bike.
Can any of you electrical wizards draw a diagram showing how to wire the mag so it can be shut down using the key/switch. (not a separate switch, the key switch)
Cheers JUG

The kill switch is only a earth wire to the Maggie, but you can buy a Morris maggie cover that has a key lock in the cover they fit the JH maggie, I just have my earth wire with a hidden toggle switch to a earth point, I have never wired one to a ignition switch before.

A simple relay, using a N.C. set of contacts to ground. Key on to energise coil, opens contact to run. Key off to release coil, mag is grounded.

Excellent, that's exactly what I was looking fore.
Don't suppose you would have a simple diagram for that. Yes, I'm electrically challenged.

Thanks mate.

Connect 87a and 85 to earth/ground. Connect 30 to the magneto kill wire.
Connect 86 to the wire from the ignition switch (that used to feed voltage to the coils/points/Boyer).

that's interesting. a single relay that can be wired either NC or NO. didn't know they did that.
