Put on another license tag mount from an antique car scrap then decided to keep going before frost hit so dug out ole Peel's all weather National brand tall wide with lowers screen and got er done too. Its got to stand harsh shocks of THE Gravel travel and minor drops which it had quite well but its mounting hardward couldn't so made up some more from shoe box bin of also failed variety of various lessor shields. Too cold and far away from water to clean years of storage off so though the contrast would show it its coverage better anyway. oh yeah it don't matter in fall if I close shop doors and rear tarp or not they just blow under the eves, this way they mostly blow out in the stroms and don't stay soaked from floor flooding. I leaf blow before major projects like Trixie when leaves mostly stay on trees.

I am able to peer over the top by 2" wind free but it does hit top of helmet, which I can't really tell expect I've reached around to see where the blast was going. Mostly just some eddies whip around to my jacket back if I sit back too far. I block with tap/foam the gap that blows past head light. I find I get too chilled to sit on a bridge in 20's so get rolling again in such still air I light cigs at 80 plus no problemo. I may yet have to mount the extra hand grip shields but Trixies bars are a bit narrower than long horn Peels. I'm vaping now so no flamo.

You've got leaves like I do, everywhere. That screen looks like crap. Just an opinion, nothing personal.

Sunday is supposed to be 65 here, time is getting short.

Ugh-ly - that's why I mentioned I don't really see it just over it while riding so still feels like a cool Combat under me instead of a eye sore all alone on winter rides. You've seen what Commando life is like for me on a plain jane like Trixie over just the summer time, this shield went though thick and thin on Peel a couple years straight then sat exposed to wind blow shed. It actually dampens wind gusts from semi's and storms. Last time out on Peel with it I was going 110 hands off down hill to prove front don't steer a motorcycle - a biff I had with Kieth Code.

Its got a crack through upper RH mount and a lovely plam sized shatter gird work around the other one so its really worse in person. I paid like $100 bux for this but see they are like $250 now. That substracts a lot of ugly when ever I do wash it off and wax and polish to hardly notice again, so there.

It once was good enough for past Peel but even brand new ain't good enough for the next Peel. Oh yeah my MaCaw likes to stick his head out beyond this screen as blocked so much sensation of wind speed I almost crashed the first time out into turns I was going by feel alone, whoowee peepee worked so well.

Yeah Matt ya can see how the holster mount has dragged one fork gaiter down like a loose sock can't ya. It was low 20'F last pm but now 5-6 am its only mid 50's so water wont freeze on washing shield before a commute if it don't rain hard first. Fine with me as long as no water in the white hardened state.

Cleaned up ok for a hicks ride

Nice 50'sf over cast windy day so lit out to see what Wes was up to and see if my cold set up was functional to find I had to open chest, arm pits and forearm vents plus face shield not to sweat. Neat sensation to burble along and not feel wind force, though some drag to accelerate but a non issue for Commandos. Dead steady self centering up to 75+ then the lack of head steady starts a mild wobble. Will get aroundtoit someday. I'm not as mechanically entertained as Wes's industrious example.

Here's Wes with his Bergaman scooter apart to put in rings to try to solve a oil burning blow by issue innate to these new fangled wonders with only 20K miles on it. Wes looking up manual to figure out how the OHC head comes off.

Flat screen as such is useless on bike in winter; but is better than nothing at all, as there too much of a gap, which allows too much air currents to swirl in between screen and rider. It also acts like a barn door into a headwind; don’t ask me how I know!
I tried for years to obtain a screen that would do what I wanted it to do; I eventually gave up and made my own handle bar /fork mounted fairing with an aerodynamic screen that had been designed in a wind tunnel that was mounted in the correct position on the bike in relation to a seated rider. Now I can ride even at 80mph with the visor half way up all day long, as long as it doesn’t snow or rain.
Mine made no difference to the MPG at all.
I will try to get photos out and risk being ridiculed by all you guys out there.

Wow, tough crowd!

Looks to me like it would help quite a bit in freezing cold and rain and snow, but I've never ridden with one so I don't know. The thing I don't like about most windscreens, other than appearance, is the wind turbulence that hits me right at head level.

I traded good money in big city for time of my time as po country boy so my Lexus worn out and replaced with an old Olds sedan cream puff grandma's car I think the water crossing did in its transission. No way to fix locally or right away over X-mass and people needing to be seen so only legal transportation right now is good ole Trixie. The big ass wind screen is in pieces to mold for some of Peels active cornering aero dynamics so put on another screen plus the grip shields. Main issue is crashes took away the better bar mounts so left with cheap weak type --- so about half way to work in lower 40's they let the shield tip back to face my eyes edge on, which both dumped air right on me also felt like napping under a guillotine, Got too tired holding it up with LH plus not advised to ski THE Gravel one handed but I did, till too tried to hold arm up till pavement. Then found I could lean helmet on it to stay out of wind next 15 miles to clinic. This was a concern to comrpress spinal cord/brain stem but got away w/o any signs or symptoms. Case care took longer than planned so leaving was after sun behind the Mts though still bright out temps dipped to 38' F.

Used clear packing tap strap from headlight to screen top which worked a treat. Will ride out tomorrow am in low 30'F and heavier sweat hoody than tonight's for a hot breakfast as office warms up so breath don't show. The Polar Bear ride New Yr's will feel like cheating if anyone else invited actually goes out. I love the double takes of car that pass and those I pass up to 90. Had a couple grinning at the old Commando alone on the square - it was worth a few BTU's more energy when I tickled a flood then stepped on it once for a warm fire inside to carry me home w/o suffering.

Getting to be like dogs and their owner looking alike, tall with ears sticking out.
