Why do some Lucas turn signals have nuts run up on their stems to lock the bodies and some don't. Different years?

Not sure exactly when they switched but 72 definitely had the nuts and changeover may have been before mk3 came out..

Does anyone have a source for just the plastic/chrome-painted Lucas turn lamp bodies without the stalks? I've got a source for the lenses...but one of my bodies is in rough shape with a cracked out/stripped lens thread and chunks out of the shell. Hoping to not need to pay extra for the stalks.

No nuts and always droopy … I remember when mid-to-late '70s Nortons and Triumphs were a fairly common sight, the indicators were often drooping. Now I know why. They could be fixed, but it seemed many riders didn't bother.

It's great how they always spin round at night to give us a nice blinding amber faceful of flashing light as we negotiate that difficult turn.

Most riders tossed them or they broke off themselves.
Less than rugged construction.
And they cost a small fortune.
...and ugly.

I used the shorter rear stems on the front on my Trident....and they still weren't straight.

Contact Mike at Waldrige, he might be able to help. I purchased new turn signals and stalks with Lucas branded lens and shells. I don’t think they were that expensive At the time I don’t think they were in the catalog, but when I emailed Waldrige Mike told me he had them. So it’s possible that just the lens/shells are out there. The down side is the chrome on the front stalks is already flaking off after two years, shells seem to be holding up OK.

RE: Drooping turn signals. A small dap of blue locktite solves that problem.

The no-nut ones have locating flats to prevent the heads rotating on the stems.

'nortonbits' on UK ebay. They're 'LAP' and no cheaper than a complete unit.
