The bike to receive these parts is a 1973 750 Roadster. Will this bike accept the following parts:

Interstate tank and seat from a 73 850 Mk I

Exhaust pipes and mufflers from a 73 850 Mk I

Brake master cylinder from a 73 850 Mk I

Front fender from a 73 850 Mk I

Out with the Parts Books and have a look/compare parts numbers ?

How can anyone restore a bike without reference to the parts book....

Without looking, the answer to all of those is yes - but with conditions.

The exhaust nuts need to be 750 type (shorter ?).
The tanks and sidecovers will have to have a 750 paint job, not an 850 type - so the part numbers would be different.

The tank and side covers don't have to have anything of a paint job. The man can paint it or not paint it, what ever he likes. He wanted to know if they would fit. Of course they will!

I once restored an entire parts book using my motorbike.

My point was that the part numbers may be different, but the parts under the paint will be the same.
And fit in this case - as both you and I pointed out.

Not always something you can assume with different models and years of Commandos, it must be said.

I think I lost my parts book Rohan, I've moved five times since parting company with that horrid little b..ch who called herself my wife. So I still have things in boxes which Jenny is helping me sort out.

British Spares in New Zealand are pretty good suppliers for us, saving a bit on half way around the world postage from UK and USA. And a favourable exchange rate. They have all parts listed by number and a catalogue to select from. So if you haven't got or can't reference a parts book, these Kiwi's can generally look after you.
