My bike is black, probably the most common colour for nortons,BUT the white\blue and red is really starting to grow on me,i know its a personal choice but does anyone wish theirs was a different colour sometimes.

I have done my Roadster tins in white, blue & red. And the original Hi Rider tins are in Tangerine. I like both colours, I think the tri colour set up polarises people, they either love it or they don't!
I used to like the Yellow, and the candy red.
Cheers Rich

I don't wish it were permenantly a different color, but I would like to sample a couple colors.

I went black because it was the only color that I knew I wouldn't regret, or get sick of.

I changed my FF blue to black once and regretted it.

I fell for my brothers 1970 "S" Fireflake blue fiberglass gelcoat body work, and to this day I still think it is striking! The bike had the halo ring around the headlight , ameter gage in the headlight shell with the hi-beam toggle switch and a red button for the horn in there too. It had the wide American bend handle bars, and that big old aluminum TLS up front with chrome fenders and rims, & with a chrome Hooker header exhaust pipe that came out on the right hand side. All of the chrome was really bright and shiney but the aluminum wasn't ever polished (the aluminum was clean but it was the chrome that jumped out at you and complemented that deep fireflake blue). However for my own bike, I'm going with BRG on the tank and side covers and then a silver frame, stainless steel fenders and polished aluminum shoulderd rims and timing & primary covers ( at least until I get tired of shining them up, that is). Ck

I had one of those Hooker 2 into 1 as I remember it was. I could never get it mounted right and the headers dragged on the ground because they went under the frame on the RH side as I remember. It backfired like crazy too. Glasspack as I remember.

My personal preference is... choose any original color that makes you happy. To choose a color that was never offered, or not offered in that body config/year is, IMHO, a downgrade on a classic. It helps to identify the bike to semi-laymen. That being said, only 3 small peices of tin, relatively easy to repaint. The black and gold is my own personal fond memory of 40 years ago.. but the '74 I ended up with shall remain it's orig red/silver.

This is my tank and was done by Brent Budgor of http://www.vintage-vendor.com

Candy Red......

Never seeing anything but Black and Gold Roadsters,
I built mine as a Wimbledon White interstate/Bagger.
Just to be different I guess.

Easy to make up different color sets of tanks and sidepanels depending on your mood. (Just takes money...)

I think about that alot. With all this recent rattle can talk, I will keep an eye out for cheap (condition is releative) tank and covers. I could, or you could, total change the bike in minute. It is hard to put a color on these bike that don't look good.

I mean, what's not to love?

^^^ Nice bike. :D

Here's what it looks like after paint. I know I didn't come up with this color combo.... but I tried just about everything before I sealed the deal. I think it turned out amazing.

Johnnymac, have to admit that this is the best color combo I have seen. I had my mine done by Brent 2 years ago and wish I had done it that way. Although the Original black he did it in was amazing. May have to get it reprinted next year.

I personally do not like black on anything. After owning a couple of black bikes and a few black cars you can never keep them clean and every imperfection shows like a sore thumb. I had a 95 Impala SS in black that I had the dealer repaint because I did not like the factory paint job. My Norton is BRG and my other bikes are blue, red and yellow.
Just my 2 cents.

Johnnymac's black/red combo reminds me of a HRD (Howard Raymond Davies) look. I like Tpeever's candy apple. I'm afraid to ask, but what did the paint (color) cost? I just bought a pint of base coat color, nearly $100. One pint of color, one quart of reducer, one quart of clear and one pint of hardner ran me $197. Since I've not been in a paint store for quite some time, I was shocked. Add filler, primer, tape, sand paper, masking paper and wash, you're talking some real money. I'm starting to think paying a $1000 for a quality paint job, for the tank and panels, for a Norton would be not out of the question. Don't know how I got so many repeating prepositions in a sentence. Oh, well!
