Some good banter on this subject was beginning on Scout63's First start tips thread .
Not wanting to hijack it , I thought it might be fun to give this subject it's own home.
I'll be bold and take the first plunge.
Time - early 1970's . My first Norton and what was under the helmet ...

I'd be no fun because mine's still all here at 67.... just now turning gray.... Had to look twice at the bike there.... Nice looking Honda in the garage.

Too much brain cramping to do the host sight. Maternal grandfather was a turnip top so by all accounts it should have gotten me but didn't. Could tuck it in my pants in my 20's and then began doing haircuts because of work choices and it stuck for life.... not give up scooters though, and never give up the Commando.... Gave up my waistline though because I love southern food. Burnt motor oil over rice.

Now I have to dig up some pictures. I have zero hair and kind of enjoy the simplicity of it all until I look I’m the mirror.

Forget hair... First Honda I've ever seen where someone cared enough to doctor it up tastefully. I'd like a full pic of that to look over..... Just a change up.… I'm still faithful to my 850, but I can still look.

Thanks jbruney for the kind words - I wish I could take credit for " doctoring up " my little Honda but the fact is it is bone stock and all original . 1990 GB 500 - they were only offered here in the USA for about one year. They sold poorly and many languished on showroom floors and were deeply discounted to move them. Now they are pretty rare - kind of a cult status . I always regretted not buying one when they were new. Looked for a few years but when they do come up for sale they are usually missing the original exhaust, seat cowl , mirrors , bar end weights etc. Found this one the summer before last - complete - nearly showroom new condition - only non original stuff on it are tires and battery.
Even though I am jealous of your full head of hair, here is another picture as requested -
Cheers -RT

Still looks to take some pride in.... I'd take her down Main St. for all to see.

looks like its dressed up and striped to look like a Velocette? ;
Yes , I’m sure Honda took their styling cues from a Velo - the fuel tank in particular .
Interesting to compare - My 1950 Garden Gate ES2 is about the same displacement & weight . Both single cylinder- ES 2 maybe 25hp ? GB 500 35 hp or so. Honda is dual exhaust port 4 valve overhead cam . The ES 2 will happily go all day at 55 mph but strains at 65 mph. After sitting all winter it usually starts in one or two kicks. The Honda needs to be warm - it is the most cold blooded bike I have ever known. If I want to ride it in winter I have to bring it in to the heated shop overnight. But when it is warmed up it is a true joy - easily goes over the ton and is the most flickable bike I have ever ridden - no chicken strips on these tires . Thanks for the interest and compliments Gents- RT

Wow ! Never have had no chicken strips on any bike .... good for you ! is a nice looking Honda , very well cared for ....

Oh my, what have you started? I tried to find pictures by decades, and got pretty close.

For comparison, this is "hippie Ken" from somewhere in the late '60s or early '70s.

When we had hair...

Then Daytona circa 1985, plenty of hair still, but turning gray.

When we had hair...

Still wild and hairy at Daytona in 1990.

When we had hair...

Looking grayer (I'm the one without the beard:)), but still got hair at Barber in 2004.

When we had hair...

And now, "old Ken" from Bonneville 2019. How time flies.

When we had hair...

Ken
I loved The Reverend, saw them a bunch of times in the 90s and still have an old black shirt of theirs I wear for dirty work. And this in a drawer of my toolbox.

I know this is supposed to be about hair, but I really can only see the bikes. Rick’s GB is gorgeous and Ken’s race bikes are so cool.

I had to do a double take with that Honda. Looks like one a fellow I knew ran up in about 1980. Very similar tailpiece.
As for hair I still have a full head however less thick than at 20 and the waistline and mass factor still the same
due to terminating the alcohol habit. So I probably have less fun but Im still able to ride if it is over 60 degrees and
dry conditions.
Kudos to those with less scalp covering and willing to post.

Over the years it looks like you have been able to condense all that luggage into one small pack!

i wish! when the wife travels along, the luggage space expands beyond measure, when i'm on the bike, i'm still pretty frugal..
