Guys, how much would you estimate an NOS 72 (later version) 750 crankcase UNSTAMPED would be worth?

Dunno. Depends if the buyer wants it-or needs it . $200 ? Why not number stamped ?

I found one that was never stamped back in the day. It was purchased by a dealer from NVT who never used it. I have been looking for a case, and the guy I know will sell it, but he wants a fortune for it.

$300.00 would be a fortune, $200.00 would be high (but doable), after all these are empty cases (only marketable to folks who need replacement cases for a Commando and that's a small group).

Yeah, he wants $1100 for it. Says he paid $800 for it in the 80's from NVT. I quickly passed.... But thought I'd get your opinions.

$1100 is a good way towards a set of Maney cases. I belive around $1900 shipped.

I see the NOS cases fairly often, always expensive.

Oldbritts has them listed
063334 Crankcase Halves Assembled, 750cc $1,029.00

$200 or $300 would be a fair price for them. Not a huge market for case buyers out there.

I would be interested in a unstamped NOS (MINT) set of 1971 cases for $200.

I believe it a 'case of worth plenty to a seller, little to a buyer and plenty if a buyer got a set cheap then wanted to resell them a week later.
If someone had a mint 72 Combat which windowed the cases,a mint replacement set that they could stamp their VIN numbers onto (as was done by the dealerships) would be a godsend, for $200 a gift.
Have you priced new cam followers lately,at that rate they should be $10 a piece.

Exactly, how many of those folks are there?

Vince

Who knows, maybe if they had some cheap cases they would join the site.
You can be assured, for every Commando on the road there are dozens either at the breakers or in sheds/garages worldwide rusting away with whatever ailment sent them there,of course no 72 Combats blew up.
Did I read here there were 10's of thousands of Commando's built ?

Way out of line. You can get them any day you want for that kind of money so what he has isn't special. Mind you I picked up a used set and paid just under $1300 for them but it was bolted to and included a complete eng, trans, primary, frame, front end, fiberglass tank etc. Just missing wheels fenders instruments side covers headlamp :D .

The high value this guy is attributing to his cases seems to be based on what he thinks someone would be willing to pay to be able to put together a numbers matching bike. This person would have the matching registered frame and trans but maybe a set of cases that are unrepairable. If you are not that person then it's a moot point. Joe is selling new castings for $1,030.00, source is known with a warranty. They are un-numbered too, in which case, I'd buy his before I'd buy this other guy's any day. If you're just in the market for a set of cases then $200-300. I got a set years ago for $250 that were guaranteed to pass blueprint and zylgo at my expense.

To some people (including myself) NOS parts (in original box) are worth 3 times as much as good used parts.
The problem is that some parts being advertised as NOS are actually factory rejects or "new old replica" parts.

Another question for you guys. I can't seem to find this in the norton parts guide and I don't want to start a new thread for this, but do you happen to know what this part number is for these nuts in the picture? Where is the best place to get a nice set? Mine are rather rusty and look like the PO painted them.

What is it worth?

OK Item #13 - #14 and #15 ?
He was looking for a set not one nut. ?
