Mid life crisis in full swing so I took a drive to visit Matt and Gary at Colorado Norton Works.
Took in all the wonderful sights, viewed the various stages of Commando building and had a great time!
What can I say other than I walked out of there a couple of hours later with the Jim Comstock Head Steady, the CNW complete four piston Brembo front disc brake with Magura master cylinder, and the Comstock Hydraulic Clutch.

Spent a couple days carefully installing everything and have been enjoying all the positives this past week.

I knew the Brembo front brake system would be fabulous, and it certainly is. The Comstock designed Head Steady is robustly built and beautifully machined, it allows the head to rotate up and down and for and aft, and the rod linkage forbids any side to side movement, terrific.

But, the item I was very pleasantly surprised with was the Comstock designed and built Hydraulic Clutch conversion.
WOW, what a great idea and improvement over the stock cable set up. This clutch mechanism rocks, absolutely positive clean disengagement of the clutch plates, exact same action every time with light lever pull.

Now, all of these "improvements" are indeed just that. Did I "need" any of them? Nope.

And I am certainly not suggesting that anyone else need them. However, I am thrilled with these upgrades, they are all huge improvements over their stock replacements.

Thanks Jim Comstock and thanks Matt Rambow and Gary at CNW. You guys make a lot of people very happy!

I'd have an easier time saying no to a stripper. Probably a good thing Dolores, CO isn't on my way home.

Dolores is a good name for a stripper

Well Swooshdave, the tank hides the head steady and the hydraulic slave cylinder is inside the outer transmission cover, so showing a picture of my bike will not show you any of these, other than the Brembo brake of course.

I suggest you click here http://coloradonortonworks.com/catalog/engine.asp#2300 to see a fucking picture of the hydraulic clutch, and then scroll down just a little to the head steady, and then click here http://coloradonortonworks.com/catalog/brakes.asp for a fucking picture of the Brembo brake set up.

We All love reading and seeing expensive and effective gear head highs. Only thing I'm missing out your shopping list is Comstock's clutch cylinder and do indeed take note of your new found pleasure. I guess I'll just have to forgo beer and propane a spell.

If I bought the wife some new boobs you'd want to see a picture, even if she was wearing a sweater.

We just love pictures of bikes. And bikes with new stuff on them.

Did you take any pictures while you were at CNW?

1 Up,

Thanks for the great feedback. It takes a whole lot of time, effort and money to develop many of these modifications and it makes it all worth while when we hear that people like yourself are appreciating them. I am sure Jim will agree (he is probably taking today, Sunday, off...the lazy bum). We are all very fortunate that Jim is in fact a Commando nut. Imagine if he liked Triumphs.....what a waste.

I'm with you. I think the Hydaulic clutch is one of the best upgrades available for a Commando. After using them now on all the builds for about a year I cant even imagine going back to a cable operated version.

There is a lot more cool stuff on deck and next time you are up here in Dolores with a shopping list, I will buy you that lunch that you missed out on last time.

....and Richard. The Cafe' is in a special, top secret, part of the building that only a few have access to.......not really. I show it to everyone that takes the time to stop in and it definitely has an affect on people that appreciate 'trick' machines.

Swoosh,
Truth be told we would look at your wife's old boobs.

Placed my first order with these fellas just last night. I am looking forward to the chain guard and front fender.
So many nice things to look at on the website!

Totally agree, these guys are amazing. We definitely benefit through jim's commando love. Matt and Gary are super nice. Customer service is the highest I've ever had for any company dealing with any products. We are definitely spoiled

Yup, I have a number of CNW items on my Commandos. Great products, great people. Best customer service ever! If only all vendors could be so good.

Yes, my not buying a new Fullauto head is Matthew's fault.

There I was, an older guy with money to burn and eyes glazed over with CNW product lust.

Really, all Matt and Gary had to do was take me to lunch and I would have never stopped buying.

Sad, another great sales opportunity squandered by a weak marketing plan.

Better business model is all that it needed.

I could take up residence in the Delores area, get a place with a few chickens running around, and for a small stipend take over CNW's global marketing program?

You listening, Matthew?

I purchased a set of their alloy lower fork seal bolts. They were only $20 more than the stock steel ones and they come with a hex drive for easy installation. Fast shipping and they fit excellent. Too bad my gaiters cover them. Too many other parts and so little $$$$. If I win the lottery watch out!

Its great to be impractical! Whether its with women or motorcycles, hard to top.

" Impracticle" that's a gental way of saying it but you are correct. I would however like to have some of the impractical money I spent in the throws of love. I told a EX to keep the ring even though we weren't going through with it because it made me feel good at the time. I think at this point I would be happier with the full treatment bike from CNW's that it would have paid for but then I would have had the pain of trying decide on a paint color etc etc...
