Upon returning from a very pleasant ride, I did my post ride inspection and found a distinct lack of welsh plug and fibre wicks on the right side of the swing arm. I have ordered replacements which should be here the end of the week. My manual calls for 140 weight oil to soak the fibres in. I haven't seen 140 weight oil in years. What is the appropriate alternative? Also, what are the pro tips for replacing the fibre wicks and welsh plug?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I had the same experience recently. Gear oil 85W-90-140 works very well, any gear oil works well.

The key is to bash the new welsh plug severely with the end of a 1/2" drive extension of approprate length.

all the best,

RS
