I suspect many of you have homes infested with canine companions... Each morning I take my little female mix for some 'sploring' around the neighborhood. Sadie covers ground pretty fast sniffing and squirting select areas with great discretion and care... Only the choicest spots receive her special attentions..... Returning home to 2nd shift I pick up Krackers... Mama's male chihuahua mix?.... Full run non-stop piss flying on everything, except for one which he must be forced to leave... I mean dragging by the leash literally. He is for lack of better terms a connoisseur of fresh and aged odouriferous pigments found in his line of march.... Not an eater of such, but a devout sniffer savouring every offering of what he finds to be an intriguing fragrant bouquet. He could spend the morning attending to a single discovery.
This is what retirement has brought me down to.... How the mighty have fallen... Even the bikes have been refusing my offerings of repair attention. Now you've wasted five minutes.

Six days a week, at dawn's first light, little miss and I issue forth. Two miles up hill and down, to the seaside, eats all the wrong things despite my best efforts. Every other day adds a shorter excursion to the shops and of course mandatory trip again to the sea. At least I pretend I'm staying fit.
As the French say "We are slaves to our animals".

Nice looking mutts there EB.
Thanks... Little girl on the right was a rescue, deemed a lost cause by one and all, kept in a barn for factory breeding and distrusting of anything on legs (two or four). She was even put forward for euthanasia at one point..
With time and patience and the totally bullet proof temperament of the big guy on the left it did have a happy ending :)

Ripper and Jaws.

They kinda exercise themselves as you can see. But I still get a lot of exercise with them, all that shouting is good for the lungs, right ?

(not their real names, in case yer wundrin)

Here's my 2 "exercise consciouses", albeit some months ago,
We don't see the first rays of sun until the last 10 minutes of our daily hour at the moment.

A great saying and aspiration: - "I wish to be the person my dogs think I am."

Great you dog owners enjoy the company of your dogs, but I see no mention of a pet hate of mine, namely dog owners who allow their dogs to foul the sidewalks/pavements and don't bother to clean their mess up. They give every dog owner from here to the moon a bad name.
And just recently one has I'm pretty sure thrown their dog turd over my garden fence.
A thousand curses on that particular individual.

It was a truism once Bernhard that you only met nice people walking dogs...
Alas, now that dogs have become fashion accessories, status symbols, penis extensions and a way to make silly money, you're just as likely to meet a total t*sser....
(As I did last week, I'd have happily shot both man and beast :) )

That’s a fair gripe Bernhard. The phenomenon of ‘lock down puppies’ has made it worse too as there’s suddenly a glut of clueless new dog owners... with consequently clueless dogs.

I carry a billy and mace because of folks letting big aggressive dogs run loose. I will kill them if they attack mine and have warned more than one about it.... My little pups are always leashed when out for exercise. If I'm bitten they'll be shot by me.

Great lookin pals You got there Gort ! They just look so Happy !
I grew up with them, my kids grew up with them, We currently have 6. (dogs...)
I always say, dogs are better'n most people.... , dog= God; spelled backwards !

Dogs n ‘umans...

I do not believe God made an animal that bonds with humans better than dogs...

When we got our first Ridgeback, our youngest daughter was 3. The breeder had 5 Ridgeback’s in the house who all lived in one big homemade ‘bed’. We were chatting with him over a cuppa and realised the youngest daughter was missing. She‘d wandered off and got into the bed with 5 unknown adult Ridgebacks... who had moved over to make space for her!

They’re so gentle with kids it’s hard to comprehend. But then you see the reaction off the same dogs to an unknown adult and wow, different animal !!

Our old Lurcher is past the walking stage but luckily we have 3 Grandsons that keep us busy. Out cycling with the 4 year old yesterday, gets competitive at times, magic! Pictures reminded me of when our Daughter was a toddler, would disappear and we would find her in the dogs bed.

Al, as tempting as it may sometimes seem... it’s generally frowned upon to put leads and collars on grandchildren. And to let them poo everywhere, even if you do pick it up...

Our daughter's Staffie Ridgeback cross is the softest animal you could imagine. It's hard to believe they (her and her brother) were dumped at the door of a dog's home.

They are happy. They have lived on our property their whole lives and have no care but love. The short-haired had 9 pups, and the longhair was.one of them.

God is Dog spelled backwards.

And dogs love horse hoof trimmings.
