I'm selling off stuff and heading toward retirement in the next couple of years. I don't see myself ever building this engine, so I'm selling it. Please use email grandpaulz@hotmail.com for SERIOUS price discussion.

    POWER UNIT
VR880 drive side case, reinforced, new, UNSTAMPED
850 left side case w/ camshaft needle bearing, excellent condition
Case halves "decked" to match cylinder base height
(no main bearings, will include one excellent condition set of FAG superblends for mockup)
Cam window kit for in-place cam swapping (new, requires modding timing case)
    Megacycle 560-00 cam (new)
    Vernier adjustable camshaft sprocket (new)
OEM excellent condition pinions & camchain (advise new chain)
OEM 850 oil pump, very good condition (advise refurbishing)
850 crankshaft in excellent condition, good hardware (would replace anyway)
Matched pair of 850 connecting rods, polished, with caps (NOT "D" rods, but recommend new hardware)
New set of rod big end bearing shells, std size
Have some hardware new, some freshly cad plated, some very good used

    TOP END
OEM 850 cylinders, bored to 880, excellent condition
JE dished-top 880 forged pistons with gapless Total Seal rings, pins & circlips (new)
Baisley-prepared & ported 850 head with external oil drain (like new)
7mm Kibblewhite valves & lash caps (all new)
Complete OEM rocker & shaft set, in very good condition (would say excellent, but I'd lighten them)
    Mushroom head valve adjusters (new)
Titanium valve collets & keepers (new)
    Smiths Brothers pushrod set (new)
Matched set of excellent condition cam followers, radiused by Megacycle
33mm custom intakes for spigot mount carbs (matched to Kehin FCR 35s)
Have some hardware new, some freshly cad plated, some very good used

    PRIMARY
One of only three custom-laid VR880 carbon fiber primary case sets (new, ventilated)
CF primary inner case has cut-out for Spyke e-starter upgrade
Lytedrive belt drive primary kit (new)
Barnett clutch friction plate set (new)
OEM clutch plain & pressure plates in excellent condition
OEM clutch centre assembly in excellent condition, new bearing

    TRANSMISSION
    VR880 tranny case, reinforced (new)
    (no bearings)
OEM 850 transmission shafts, excellent condition
OEM 850 gear cluster, excellent condition
OEM 850 shift forks & camplate, excellent condition
OEM 850 inner case & associated parts, excellent condition
OEM 850 outer cover & associated parts, excellent condition
Shifter & kicker assemblies, excellent condition
Have some hardware new, some freshly cad plated, some very good used

    OTHER
"Big Bearing" transmission cradle with provision for Spyke e-starter
(designed to be used with modified OEM, or custom swingarm, to take steering bearings instead of bushings)

I have materials and pattern plans to build a box-section "big bearing" swingarm with chain adjuster blocks (requires one-piece axle available from member madass (Don Pender). Will include some materials and plans free with purchase of tranny cradle, or will build for a fee.

Does not include ignition, but I can provide a new one at my wholesale cost.

I currently have the properly jetted FCR carbs on my Blue monoshock prototype bike, but will sell them for $1,000 pre-jetted. They sell for $1,500 new, and mine have only a few hundred miles on them. They will be clean and ready to mount at that price.

I also have a set of 35mm CV carbs with special intakes custom made by member jeandr, will sell for $400.

Brand new PR style top steady also available, as well as new stainless adjustable isolastic drop-in kits (require no mods to front mount, no matter what year).

This is ALMOST everything needed to build a right smart VR880 engine that will test your shoulder and elbow strength, and exercise your smile muscles. I do not guarantee track results.

I paid Kenny Dreer top dollar for ALL of the VR stuff, and most of the other major bits. I'M NOT GIVING THIS STUFF AWAY.

I will include a reed valve crankcase breather that mounts where the spigot is on the backside of the timing case, already mounted.

I will get additional pictures over the next few days.

After helping my late best friend's widow liquidate his RC collection, it got me thinking I DO NOT want my wyfe to have to go thru the hassle of selling off all my bikes and spares after I'm gone or incapacitated, so I've started the process while I'm still easily able to do so. I've already sold 18 bikes from my collection this year, headed down to a half-dozen or so over the next year or two, then enjoy what I have on a much more regular basis. With the exception of 4 or 5 of my bikes, most haven't been ridden in 7-8 years.

Not really. Although I actually started with the ENGINE before the monoshock prototype bike, the parts were so darn pricey that I was able to build the rolling chassis quickly, then a complete, running 850 engine basically dropped into my lap.

So it's sat there on the shelf, slowly accumulating more and more bits to complete it, now just short a couple of the long allen bolts that hold down the cylinders, and a few miscellaneous bits like an ignition and alternator (went back and corrected that, I used the Sparx alternator on another bike).

Sure, I'd love to build it and swap it out, but I could never really enjoy it now like I would have 10 years ago.

Getting older is not for the faint of heart. Neither is raising little kids while doing so!

I look forward to seeing this on the road.
Are you able to say which part of NZ it went to?

    Don't know, but I'll ask.

I did tell him I was interested in seeing photos of the engine assembly and the bike it is eventually installed in. Also, how it runs when it's done, of course...
