I am thinking of updating the original set up. On extended runs the battery drys up, so I suspect slight over charging with the zener. I am also keen to reinstate the red light to work as intended with a functioning assimilator, I.E. on with ignition, off with engine running and charging.
I have trawled through the boyer, pazon, timpanium E.T.C. and discovered boyer make a version of their powerbox with a charging light take off wire. So this should act as the assimilator without needing it? Has anyone run this system and does it work well?

Cheers Richard

I have a Podtronic rect/assimilator and a "Heads Up LED Voltage Monitor" from Signal Dynamics. One LED with different colors indicate different state of charge of alternator. Very informative, I like it.
