hi - would anybody know what year a bike with vin number SYACMM011EY005060 was built, and if it’s a mark 2 or not? Rob, can you help?

2014
10 digit is the year.
A = 2010
B = 2011
C = 2012
D = 2013
E = 2014

Etc etc.

Thanks - there is a guy here selling it as a 2017 Mark 2! Wanted to get my facts right before I called him on it

Maybe it was first registered in 2017?

As far as I know, all mk11s have the “mk11” decal on the airbox.

I’m not sure when mk11s came to be, but I thought it was after 2014...

My sport has a plat on the frame behind the fork yoke that indicates that it was built December of 2014. (DEC/14). Never knew thought the VIN.

Voodoo is correct in that the 10th digit is the year digit, so we are currently on 'J' for 2018 and shortly moving to 'K'

The key points are when we went from F to G was the transition from mark 1 to mark 2 (although by that stage many of the updates to the engine had been made) and as we went in to 'H' was when we swapped over from euro 3 specification to euro 4 specification.

So a 2015 is still a mark 1. Correct?

What does it say on the airbox?

If it says mk11 then it is indeed a mk11.

If it does not, then (I believe) it is not.

But as Rob has already said, the change from Mk1 to mk11 in practical terms was a gradual affair. So if you have a late 2015 build, it will have most of the mk11 upgrades in it.

But, unless it’s got mk11 decals on the airbox, then I think it’s safe to say it ain’t ‘officially’ a mk11.
