I got a set of pipes from Paul a few months ago. the chrome, welds, and fit were perfect. No adjusting, no kickstart problems. If you get free shipping thrown then it's a deal.

Used Viking on one bike...once was enough. Worst fitting exhaust system ever built.

Unfortunately after much personal email I ordered a set 6 yr ago and they required serious grinding of pipes and exhuast nut and bending at head to even fit in head, let alone align rest of the way. I finally on Trixie 4th rebuild banged and levered them to clear primary case and TS case and don't plant on unless I hear more reports of normal install. Things got weird at Viking Ext back then so hope he's recovered.

I ordered a set last May, unbalanced MkIII header pipes with the 750 flanges on them.

They look and fit perfect.

lol at the good and bad reviews at extreme ends of the spectrum. Free shipping is a great deal though

I have seen this several times in the past few years. Very mixed reviews on the Vikings. Not just shades of grey, but polar extremes. As a group, I believe the members of this forum are (not counting this author) more discriminating and capable than the average person. I can understand variation in perception and experience with the products, but there appears to be this polar difference in opinions. About half think the products walk on water and the other half want to throw them into the sea.

I think I read somewhere on this fourm that the exhaust ports are not that percise to begin with, Just a touch off and you can run into problems. The most recent set I bought from a supplier in Mass. Had to be tweaked quite a bit to get them to fit, Was it the pipes or the head?????

My question would be, can everyone agree the mufflers are of a superior quality? I have not seen any in person, their dimentions would be the easiest to get right. I could understand the heads being off a little.

I could go on a huge rant right now...but I'll make it simple and say this...the mufflers I received were garbage. Welds cracked under 1000 miles, waited over a year for replacements.

I sold the entire set up for .25 cents on the dollar.

Junk.

Instead of a rant, how about just providing some useful information about exactly what happened?

I'd be curious to know if you're talking about failures at mounting points, what style of mufflers they were, how long ago this all happened.

And although it is a liberal interpretation, when you said you "sold the entire set," it makes me think you may have had the headers, too.

Please do take the time to provide a more informative post on this subject.

Thank you.

Thank you.

Peashooter mufflers, both cracked at the joint where the inlet tube meets the muffler body. I was lucky that my supplier had a pair that they received damaged in shipping that I could use while I waited for replacements. The next thing that cracked was the flange at the head. That was enough for me. A little OVER A YEAR LATER I received my replacement mufflers, I had already replaced the headers and mufflers by the time they arrived.

Yes, entire set up, sold the never used mufflers and the headers for .25 on the dollar. Even though the next guy knew exactly what he was getting, he wasn't happy them either.

Maybe things are better now...but my experience was so bad, I'll never give Viking a second chance and steer everyone away that I can.

FWIW, my bike purrs like a kitten, it's not some paint shaker that vibrates excessively.
