Here are some of the weights for valve train parts I have accumulated.

Valves:

Stock Norton intake valve >> 68.4g<<
Black Diamond intake valve >> 65.5g<<
Tensilite Ti intake 7mm >> 43.2g<<

Lifters:

stock lifter >> 77.1g<<
BSA lifter >> 38.1g<<

Spring retainers:

stock retainer >>17g<<
R&D Ti retainer >>7.3g<<
KBPM 10 degree aluminum retainer >>8g<<
JS beehive retainer>>4.5g<<

Pushrods:

Starting at the left is the stock intake pushrod at >> 32.8g<<
Next is the Maney steel rod at >> 44.6g<<
Third is a custom aluminum rod with steel ends at >>28.4g<<

The next two are like the girls mamma warned you about

Fourth is the all aluminum performance pushrod at >>20.5g << [buy lots- you will need them]
Last is the pattern- not quite OEM pushrod at >>46.7g<< [it may not bend but the unhardened ends don't last long]

Alrightly, I've a long list of mass of various items.

Cast iron cylinder = 20.5 lb.

I weighed one of Peel Combat's factory exh. pushrods = 75.85.
Stock Exh. Rocker with ball end, less adjuster and nut 103.22 g , cut = 69.99 g.
Stock Int. Rocker " " " " " " " 105.35 g., cut - 70.99 g.

That is one heavy pushrod.

So, a stock Combat engine left out back with hobot and his 12 guage shotgun, dremel tool and 1/2" drill can weigh less and perform better than all the expensive lightweight trick parts you could buy, regardless of your budget.

Slowly exhaling - cough, cough, ugh you're right, when my smoke cleared I can see clearly now - its for a pair of push rods. Its a meditative process for me as only have a old fashioned triple beam knife edge scale. I've weighed a partial finger print with the fancy old fashioned versions.
