A friend recently obtained some Norton parts (connecting rods and cam), possibly something to do with a short stroke engine, but not sure. Anybody recognize these as something familiar? Thanks.

Why possibly short stroke? Are they longer than standard Commando rods?

If standard length and used in a 750 short stroke somewhere there is an associated 77mm barrel with 8.6 to 10mm removed! Or a combination of raised pin pistons and a short barrel.

Would you run a rod bolt without a lock nut?

"The short stroke 750 cylinder is just a standard 850 cylinder. It does not have fewer fins. The short stroke motor has longer rods to accommodate the shorter stroke, not a shorter barrel."

What stroke is the factory short stroke 750 - was the crank one-piece ?

Those rods look like Triumph rods to me.

80.4 mm stroke, 77 mm bore. Crank was standard Commando 3-piece, but ground for the shorter stroke.

At one time Norvil sold a similar aluminum rod, with steel cap, that they advertised as for a short stroke 750, but it did not have the same contours as the ones posted above.
