Sweet, except the Norvil production racer was the only Norton ever available in yellow, it seems.

Lechler (Italian) refinish paints. And any Commando color you want as long as it's black!

Apparently, these people have been doing Norton paint for some time, don't know if anyone here has dealt with them before...

RS have been around for a while in the UK, and I have used their paint before (although not on a Norton) which has lasted well. Unfortunately their original paint scheme information listed for Triumphs, Nortons etc. is either inaccurate or incomplete.

Yeah, they listed some strange name for the Fireflake Blue, Ocean Shimmer blue or something like that, plus it was not in the '69 list only in the '70. Only options for '69 was Red, Green and something else I didn't recognise. Didn't look to promising to me.

Thanks for the tip, Paul. I've seen their ads before, but never thought of ordering paint from the UK. If shipping isn't too high, this would solve a few paint needs I have.

Hey, I don't know them and didn't look at thier site, just passing on a link from the Houston, TX BMOA that sounded interesting.

Hi
This is Phil from RS Bike Paint Ltd. I have been asked by Bill Bibiani to log on here & offer any advice and support we can give regarding paint colours for Nortons.

So first of all, a little about us: Our business was started 33 years ago in Barnsley, Yorkshire. We now have over 27,000 paint records and formulations covering some 140 manufacturers of motorcycle and dating from 1903 to the present day. All of our formulations have been created from original, unshaded panels or from colour plates sent by manufacturers and created by technicians to the highest exact possible match. Whist we have a reasonably comprehensive list, this is an ongoing process and we are always happy to either create new colours from original panels, or to accept information from Norton experts who understand the marque better than we do.

Please feel free to contact me through this media where I will do my best to help - I look forward to hearing from you.

Kind regards

Phil Allen

OFFER TO ALL THOSE READING THIS FORUM...

Dear All

In the interests of self help and recording original colors which we don't currently supply, how would it be if we were to offer some free paint to anyone who ships us an original part from which we can create a formulation? We can then use this to fill in any gaps in our data and record the color for all future users.
We will pay for the shipping to return the panel, together with say 250ml of paint.

Alternatively, if you have damaged parts, a small flake of paint is sufficient - we need a piece about half the size of a little fingernail!

Let me know what you think and if anyone would like to take up our offer.

Kind regards

Phil

Your site appears to be set up to service the individual owner in that you can only select one make, model and year at a time. Any chance you would be willing to post the entire Norton Commando chart at once and thus make it a lot easier for us to fill in all the gaps?

Hi Phil,

I have a question for you. I always see paint and paint products advertised in the States, that say "ground shipping only", and some pretty high shipping costs. Do you have any basic prices on what it costs to ship to the US, and what kind of time frame there is to get an order over here? Thanks!

Post from UK is getting pretty long. I just got a package from RGM that was shipped March 8. I'm still waiting on a package from UK shipped Feb 28. Seems DHS is adding time for shipping. I used to get stuff in less than a week.

DHS has toally wierded out after being my favorite carrier. Now they don't even do domestic US shipping.

Did you mean DHL? Only time I've seen them was from UK shipments, that for whatever reason weren't sent through the post.

Hi
Good question. We've been through a very long process to get where we are today, but we are fully certified to ship solvent paints and aerosols (rattle cans) by air. The level of documentation required and the precision over the packing process is a bit wearing, but we can do it.

To give an example of cost, 1000ml (2 pints) of paint costs $25.00 to ship. Three aerosols would be the same. Typical delivery from time of order with us is 3-4 working days

Hope this helps

Regards

Phil

Hi Dave

We use a courier to ship our paints. We're not allowed to post them as paint is classified as hazardous. Our delivery time is typically 3-4 working days

Hope this helps
