Just thought I’d share this...

I ‘discovered’ recently that 961s are rather sensitive to tyre pressure.

I’d been riding mine, and the Trident Hunter around locally and was thinking how slow the 961 felt on turn in during slow, tight town riding vs the old one on its narrower rims and tyres.

Then I realised I’d dropped the tyre pressure a little for a track day previously and now, not on the track, and in colder weather, the small reduction in pressure made a noticeable difference, as I discovered when I restored the pressure and the handling improved.

So, note to self (and my share point with y’all) is: check the pressures regularly, especially relevant to those of us who’s bikes often stand a while between rides.
 
I concur - after a couple of weeks commuting to work on my motorlesscycle I got back on the Norton and just had the feeling that the front felt a bit soft. Checked out at 28PSI. Up to correct pressure and feels fine. Testament to the quality of the handling.
 
Oh, absolutely. Dropped into the 20s once and was really sluggish going into the turns. I like my tires firm. Mid to high 30s
 
I've had the same experience. It seems that the spoked ("wire") wheels leak fairly rapidly. I've found I need to check air pressure every couple of weeks at least, much more often than I'm used to for bikes with cast wheels and tubeless tires. Clearly an excuse to buy those carbon fiber wheels, right?

Sadly (or perhaps fortunately) they don't do them for ABS bikes...:(

At some point I want to look more closely into this cos I just cant see what the issue is personally !
 
The inner tube material - latex rubber/polypropylene... is more porous than the outer tyre and with more escape holes (spokes) leakage is greater. Check your bicycle (or the kids) if it has been in the garage for a few weeks - loses more than 50% pressure - same principle.

...but might explain why I have been riding wider on corners as I didn’t think of the pressure - off to the petrol station to check the tyres!
 
What should the pressures be? .... or should I just go find the manual, I know it's somewhere safe :)
 
There are no set numbers, just ranges, and they depend on the load and type of riding. Feel the tires, adjust accordingly.
 
I must confess. My Sport was sluggish and not handing well. Checked the tire pressure. 5 psi front and back but didn't really appear to be so low on air. It's amazing what air in the tires will do.

Picked mine up from the dealership after a 7 months stay. 17 lbs in the rear and 12 in the front. You would think they would be smart enough to send it out with proper inflation, no? It actually handled much better than it should have though.
