Hey guys,

Weather outside is frightful but the newly finished 71 Commando in the garage is oh so delightful!

two years ago for my 28th birthday my dad signed the title over to his 71 commando that he had purchased brand new. It was originally a high rider and he immediately starting bolting on parts to make it his own.. its been sitting in a barn for the last 20 years.

But it is back to road worthy status.

Big shout out to Steve over at Big D cycles in Dallas. I did the best I could then he mostly had to redo what I had done. HAHA!

Some day will have to do some dyno business with Big D. Nice long dong silencers to match the rest of the looker. Hope you keep the faith going decades past some of us.

Nice transformation without losing it's identity.

Thank you! That is exactly what I was trying to do..

Appreciate the complements. I know it's a ongoing adventure. Can't wait to get some more miles under my belt.

Nice Build Blackhills,
Looks like a fiberglass tank. If you would like it to stay nice without any blisters showing up then look for fuel without ethanol. There are threads all about this problem but hopefully not to discourage you. Only a heads up. Aviation fuel or Marine gasoline will be pure. Hopefully American politicians wake up from their Drunken Stupor (Don’t worry we have some in Toronto) with the corn grown moonshine additive in our fuels. I think there is a website for finding non-ethenol fuels for your state. Looking good.
Cheers,
Thomas

C'mon up here on it for some crack -stuff. We all do it you know. And we insult with racial slurs just for fun and media attentions. :D But a nice bike ,thank god it's not yellow but sooner or later you or the next owner must go to steel or allewmineeum.

I bought a 15 gallon fuel dolly and did 1/2 110 and half 91 pure gas.

Hopefully the next owner will be chosen by me when that time comes. It's a heirloom now. :D

I think you have got it right. Many guys add modern parts and lose authenticity. - Really nice bike.
