Seems the 73 750 commando I just aquired took a minor hit and slightly bent the 2 frame down tubes in approx 1/2" (with a straight edge against the tubes). They are also out of round , which I thought was due to a set of highway pegs with square stock bolted on and overtighten! Hoping that was all it was, come to realise we have a slightly tweeked frame. Neck and main tube look OK .Front folk tubes look OK, maybe they were replaced as the front frender is not original. The bike must have been repaired and was ridden with the frame in that condition. Is there anyone that actully can straighten it and know that it would be road worthy??
Project on hold till the frame issue is resolved. Open to replacing the frame with good one(if one could be found) but would perfer to keep it all matching numbers.

I have the same frame damage. But with a bent main tube,it appears all frontal bumps crank the top tube. Andover will make you a new one. and as the number is stamped on a plate that should be easy to remove. But with proper tools the tube can be corrected..if not quite perfect. It appears most frames are not "Dead on" anyway.

Bent or bowed? Commando spine tubes are usually bowed.

les, Bent! well it's got a 3/4 in bend......i know they can be 1/8-1/4 due to welding.

Start hitting up the local mc shops. One of them should have a recommendation for a place that can straighten frames.

Not familar with Andover, where are they?
Do you know who has the right tools to correct this?
I would attempt it myself with a little heat and purswation but am concerned about the integrity when done??
