There are quite a few electric motorcycle manufacturers, notably Zero but also Energica and Lightning. I would barely include Harley because of the ridiculous price tag.
How can you exclude Harley not having a all electric motorcycle only because you don’t like the cost? In my opinion Harley makes the best looking electric motorcycle. Doesn’t matter if you like the price or not, it’s electric.

Zero, Energica and others are not major motorcycle brands. I clearly said the only major manufacturer. Harley-Davidson is the ONLY major manufacturer making electric “motorcycles”.
Triump, Honda, Suzuki, etc are not manufacturing electric motorcycles, not like Harley. Harley has been for a few years now.

Suggest some need to read the 'major' names monthly and annual sales figures, they suddenly don't seem that major, HD and Suzuki lag behind Royal Enfield in the UK in terms of volume sales. A big name does not mean big sales volume.

You’re missing the point. Do you honestly think Zero, Energica, lightning are “major” brands? Hardly.

Im by far a Harley fan boy, but Harley is a major brand
My main statement said that the only major brand making or offering a electric bike is Harley. I don’t understand why this is so hard to understand.
As I said, no other gas combustion motorcycle company is offering electric motorcycles yet. Not at the level of the Harley live wire.

Honda dominates the global market and they do not offer a electric “street motorcycle”. Motorcycle not scooter.
Nor does Yamaha, Suzuki, Kawasaki, Triumph, Ducati etc.

Let’s see what the global sales are for the top 5 or 10 brands. I know Royal is a big seller, but globally I don’t believe it to be in the top 5.

Not confused, HD is a well known name, but not major brand as TVS motor, Hero and Bajaj are major and rank higher in sales volume. Since May 2021 Livewire is now a totally independent company from HD, for some reason HD have split it out from the main company, now livewire is to HD what Norton is to TVS.

You are still missing my point.

No MAJOR BRAND MAKES A ELECTRIC MOTORCYCLE. ONLY HD.

TVS dose not make a “electric motorcycle”.
a scooter is not the same as a motorcycle.

Triumph, Honda, TVS, Kawasaki, Suzuki, Ducati, KTM, etc do not offer a electric motorcycle as of yet. These are all major brands that have for many years made gas powered motorcycles. And as of yet do not offer an electric version of a full sized bike.

You keep saying TVS is a major brand and I’m not disagreeing that it’s not. But to say Harley isn’t is a joke.

Show me a “major branded” electric “motorcycle” that is now available to purchase. And I mean from a company that also previously only offered gas powered motorcycles.

Harley does no longer makes the livewire, as of May this year livewire the company make it.
Look at global motorcycle manufacturers, HD does not even make top 10, even though top seller in the US it sells a third of all machines sold there. I wouldn't call a company that is not in the top ten manufacturers globally a major brand.

Not to put too fine a point on it, your facts relate to comparison which includes 3rd world countries that have many millions of very small scooters / moped type bikes. Thise are produced by a very small number of factories that are in that celebrated "top 10".

I know, TECHNICALLY that puts HD "out" of the top 10, but it's a heck of a stretch to say they aren't a "major brand".

Further, I believe HD still technically owns the "Livewire" brand, so...

(this from a guy who has never been an HD fan, and ESPECIALLY not an electric vehicle fan)

With all due respect, are you drunk? Or high? It is a Harley manufacturer product. That’s like saying ford doesn’t make the mustang. The mustang is its own line of vehicle made by ford.
the Harley live wire is still a Harley product and using the live wire as a brand is because they are also offering another model of electric bikes soon to come. Holy hell.

TVS, hero, Honda etc also combine all the sales of every 2 wheeled bike. That includes scooter, mopeds, dirt bikes, adventure bikes etc.
Harley makes now 3 types of bikes. Street bikes, adventure bikes and a electric line of bikes.

if you can’t understand that HD is the only MAJOR BRAND OF MOTORCYCLE THAT MAKES THE ONLY ELECTRIC BIKE BY A COMPANY THAT “ALSO” makes gas powered motorcycles, then I can’t explain it any clearly.

Harley Davidson is a household name, and even though sales have been dropping every year for a while, they still kicked out 180,000 bikes last year. You'd certainly consider Ducati a major brand.... they sold around 53,000 bikes last year, with sales on the rise.

I'm curious where we're going with branded electric bikes; as a statement of the bleedin' obvious the engine is a major component yet I can't imagine companies like Ducati/HD/Norton are going to make their own electric motor so we'll probably end up like the TV flat panel manufacturers where one Asian plant makes the majority of units. Then another company will supply the battery packs. Suspension will be Ohlins or one of the others so there aint much left to make the bike different to other manufacturers' offerings.

Us oldies could say - well it's like the olden days when JAP/Blackburn/Villiers engines were bought in......

Anyone seen i-Robot, with Will Smith? I feel like Will Smith in that film....especially when he pulls the MV F4 out of hiding

Just been looking at pics of the MV superveloce 75 anniversary. It's amazing that a keyboard can still work with that much drool in it......

I have no interest in buying any motorcycle, ICE or electric, from any major motorcycle manufacturer. Or sports car for that matter.

Better forget about buying new after 2035. Personally I don’t see the big deal. If it’s sexy, fast and handles great, who cares! It’s only lacking noise.

I gave up on gas lawn equipment long ago. Also threw out a new gas power washer. Went all electric. Screw gas powered mowers, blowers, trimmers etc. When John Deere makes an electric series 3 tractor to replace my diesel, I’ll ditch that too.

No no, you missed my intent. I have no interest in buying any motorcycle from a major manufacturer, internal combustion (ICE) or electric. Or sports cars. The major manufacturers don't produce anything that moves me. Small manufacturers design more interesting products to me, let alone the exclusive nature of owning something from a small manufacturer.

Got to agree. There is no doubt that Dusuziyamsaki make awesome machines, but I am definitely over ‘vanilla’. Wouldn’t take a second look at a Blade or R1 anymore. How tastes change as we age. Give me something more unique - really don’t want to see another 7 of my bike at the local biker haunt! No chance with the mighty Norton. Might not be the quickest, most reliable or best handling but boy, she sure is the prettiest!

PS. I may be a tad biased!

Not high or drunk, but quite simply, HD is a well known brand name but far from being a major brand. Norton is a well known brand name and has produced single figures in the last two years, it is not a major brand.
Since May this year HD do not produce the livewire, livewire, a separate company does. Why HD spun it off as a separate company is a mystery, this could lead to problems in the future when ice bikes are banned, as HD could be prevented from using the livewire name or technology. They might be the parent company, but they would need licences and agreements in place with livewire.
