Hello Edward,
I have 3 commando's with trispark. One has been installed 7 years. I would not go back.
I find idle stabilisation works best sub 1000 rpm . I have a rock steady 700 rpm. Use Trispark timing setup and Bushmans for the carbs. I fine tune the idle mixture by the side of the road after a good run. Good idle and low throttle opening response relies on a sound, clean idle circuit and float heights. I have really worn slides and it never seems to worry the idle or running.
Trispark will change the note for sure. Big, long spark means you tend to get more of a bang more often. Burbling you hear may be the bigger spark burning stuff that may not have been burnt with lesser systems.
