Hello All
I am trying to put a 6T Tribsa scrambler on the road and to do that I would like to fit lights.
I wonder if anybody can tell me the correct Lucas dynamo for a 1959 Triumph 6t.
Thanks in advance, Bob.

Its listed in the Lucas bible for 1957 as an E3L 20035A for the Tiger 100, 110, TR5 and TR6.
be the same for 1959 ? Don't know how far back these go, this was just a later version of what was before for quite some years ? It has the gear on the end, and looks quite similar to the Norton one, and magdyno generators, although different teeth counts.

Be aware that a fully charged battery can give an hour or 2 of good headlights, and this can be enough for road use if you don't actually intend to ride at night ? Contant loss lighting...
Cheers.

Thank you,
I am going to a bike jumble tomorrow, This information will be very useful.
Regards bob

But the 6T Thunderbird had an alternator by then.

The dynamo listed in the '59 parts book for: T100, T110, TR6 & T120 (but not for 6T) was Triumph part 20035A: Type E3L-LIO (or L10?).

Thank you L.A.B.

TRIUMPH 6T DYNAMO.

This is the before photo of the Tribsa, Now has black frame,Gold Star Alloy tank and guards. ect.

If your 6T engine cases are dynamo type, then I'm guessing they are earlier than '59 and it 's the cycle that's the '59 part?

I had belatedly come to that conclusion L.A.B. Thank you for your help.

A dynamo for a Triumph has a parallel shaft, not tapered, for the pinion, with two key ways.

The drive end seal holder has a spigot which fits closely into the hole in the back of the timing chest.

Thank you TT
I went to the bike jumble today at Ardingly today and triumph dynamo's are very thin on the ground.
Will have to run the bike on a daylight MOT until I can find one.
Mind you I will need to finish my Norton and Goldie before I start the big assembly on the Tribsa.
Regards Bob

Alton make an alternator to take the place of the Triumph dynamo. The ones I've seen don't actually fit properly. Their reliability history has been rather chequered too.

Not cheap either!
Have a look here, apparently they have sorted the reliability problems

Thanks to all for your help.
I went to Kempton autojumble yesterday (24/03/12) and for only £45 I got a suitable dynamo that fits and will be rebuilt.
Happy Days.
Regards Bob.
