Hi everyone :) I’ve been weighing up about what to do with dads motorcycle situation in a few months.

Before his stage 3b/4 prostate cancer diagnosis we were gearing up for a trip to the Nordkapp I’d prepped a 1150GSA which I’m now having to part with as we downsize the house a move to Devon. N dad was really leaning towards the T7 so when he got diagnosed I went n sold a collectible bike to get a Tenere 700 for him as motivation through his treatment.

I’ve had a few chances to ride it myself so I could film it for dad to watch really really fab bike but we got to the bottom of some of the pain he’s been in relating to his cancer mass which has lead me to start doing some preliminary research about a potential change from the Tenere 700 to something with a very very low seat height.

In the past we had a 865 Bonnie but dad felt it was a bit flighty ridden at pace (at the time he’d moved from a gsxr 750k9 truly epic Handling) an we had issues with it downshifting which if now looks like it’s more known how to fix.

Which leads me onto a few possibilities for what I could get for the T7 to replace it with.

The main considerations are manageability, seat height, lifting of its side stand and seat comfort.

We also understandably have had a Change of direction with the routes on our planned a delayed trip so no tricky stuff in Iceland etc with the risk to dads bones with the meds he’s on.

So that’s kind of leaning me towards a few possibilities.

The lighter 400x but then the seat height is a bit taller an it’s a single so maybe not as smooth but the weight is an interesting option.

A 2017 era T100 or T120.

A 865 again

The question is has anyone who’s had a 865, himmy etc moved over to either the 400x or t100 or t120 very interested.

Thanks in advance,

Tj

What about the Speed 400? It is nearly 2" lower than the x, 20 lbs lighter and 15% less expensive ( in Canada)
The ride reports are that it is smooth running and surprisingly powerful.
