I am mounting up my tires and installing new tubes. They have the TR-6 stems. That is : two nuts and a dish shaped washer. Can anyone tell me Where to put what as I install the stem into the rim?

The cup goes on with the dome up and one nut seated on the stem,if it is the pressed type the flat portion goes to the tube side.
TR6 is the rubber flange size that is bonded to the tube which come in different sizes.

This one (on my DR) is around a TR4 size.

Really like the pull-through wire arrangement to locate and pull valve stem outwards. Praytell what is the gold insert that fits internally ? The valve-spring stem being removed before I think ?

FWIW another trick to make mounting MUCH easier (including getting the stem through the hole in the rim) is to use zip ties....the tube is inflated just enough to round it out and placed in the tire before the zip ties are installed and then both beads are mounted at the same time...no need to cut the zip ties once the tire is on the bike, the locking tab can be released w/ a small screwdriver. Am mounting a DR650SM tire in the pictures but have done Commando tires this way too...

Sweet tip. Some use a ratchet strap. Remove valve core and soapy water and lots of air pressure to pop-pop bead seatings.

After reading (and seeing) these clever tips I now have another question. Someone mentioned aligning the stem with a stem mark on the tire. I have never heard of this before so I looked all over the new Kenda tires and could not determine it's identity. What do they look like and are they on both sides? Only thing I saw on several tires was a circle with a slash across it ...is that it? Did not see a yellow dot as mentioned when Googling the subject. Maybe they are perfect balance tires!

Thanks timewarp. I have seen them installed many wrong ways.

Can you install the tires without any tools (like a bicycle tire) or you still use tire levers?
