Title for frame or engine ? - 1950's bikes

Guys,

I have always wanted to build a Triton and I've been looking at getting a wideline Featherbed frame from the 50's. My question is, does the title go with the frame or the engine for a pre-1970's bike? There seems to be frames popping up from time to time fleabay and craigslist...but with no title.

That varies greatly from state to state. You might find some good info at http://www.jockeyjournal.com/forum/ many people there build bikes from parts and manage to get them titled..
