Hi guys.
The AN Timing cover 06.6161 it has an additional oil drilling from the oil entry port into the cover which appears to be an spray hole for internal component lubrication.
Two questions really.
I Have carried out the hole blanking mods to the crankcase (as will be fitting a reed breathe) and drilled a 1/4 hole beside the oil pump pedestal, with the extra oil now to be placed in the TIming chest, is this size hole sufficient.

On a 72 is this additional hole actually needed.. should I blank it off???

Thanks

Do you mean the Mk3 cover OPRV vent hole?

If it is the Mk3 OPRV vent you're referring to then you certainly don't want to blank it off.

I have indeed purchased a Mk3 cover due to a hairline crack in the OPRV thread
The hole where this drilling is butts up against the oil pump and has in it a sprung loaded plunger, I didn't think this was the OPRV though...

If you have the cover then it should be easy to tell as the OPRV vent drilling connects with the OPRV.

I think what you could be describing is the small bleed hole for the anti-drain plunger in which case that also needs to be open (if the plunger assembly is fitted).

Just to confirm with a pic.

Circled is the bleed hole that Les is referring to.

Is this what you mean?
