As it's going to be a while until I can get a new Norton I've been looking for a different exhaust for the T100. Didn't want something too loud but looked like the Thruxton. Also don't have a lot of play money right now. Despite all that my friend sends me a Craigslist posting. Take off 2013 Thruxton exhaust system, no miles, $50. Yeah, at that much I'm going to take a chance at it!

Sure enough it wasn't a crazy Craigslister and deal went through, I was pretty stoked. Guy had the dealer put on an Arrow and just wanted to ditch the stock system. I was plenty happy to accommodate that need.

I thought I wouldn't get around to swap it out until later this weekend, but, well, we know how that goes. Went straight to the garage and started stripping the old one off…

I had the mufflers off before so I knew how that went. I started on the left header and that went ok. Tight getting past the oil cooler with my socket. I didn't realize there was a fastener by the foot peg until the header wouldn't shake loose.

Moved to the other side and that rear mount proved to be a bother.

Side cover had to come off. Also the sprocket cover. Then remove the two foot peg screws and loosen the one clamping around the swing arm spindle. Odd setup. Then I could move the footpeg/brake pedal out of the way and get to the rear mount.

I made sure to install the Thruxton header on the right side first. I was lucky and all the parts were there. Basically just popped everything back on. Header nuts nipped up with torque wrench to 14 lb/ft (19nm) although I probably should have renewed the exhaust gaskets. Oh well. Next time.

One special note and the only reason I'm posting this is that the side stand hits the muffler and not the stop. I believe they changed the side stand from 2009 to 2013, or perhaps for the Thruxton? A bit of hose zip tied to the side stand arm will suffice for now. I'll sort that out later.

It sounds about the same, maybe a little chirpier. Dunno. I have a Norton that make noise…

$50, no-brainer, nice score!! Love the black/white Bonneville. When you have the $, Arrow debaffled is the only way to go . . . On my Bonneville, I found a killer set of stainless stock style cans that sound almost as good as the Arrows but retain the Bonneville look.

What I've really been looking for is a Thruxton owner who wants to swap the rear sets for some regular pegs.

Looks better with the upswept pipes, but they run better with the TOR mufflers, they look the same just bigger holes to get the gas out faster without making to much noise, I don't think you will get any takers for the foot pegs as I love the Thruxton rearset pegs and I have a bad left knee.

I have heard of it happening. Perhaps just a internet rumor. Mostly old guys, which is why I mentioned it here.

I think it is a regular oem Thrux seat. M bars and stock peg location is fine. Never done it, but if I recall, the Bonne to Thrux peg swap is not as simple as it seems, can't remember why. Norman Hyde makes a nice set or rearsets for the Bonnevilles- they pop up for sale used now and then.

Story is that you need ALL the parts but it can be done.
