If its good for organics likely will not touch the metal but also not touch the zinc metal white oxide that mainly clogs our pilot jets. Best keep an eye on it but don't take long to clean up any organic hydro carbon varnish. Some boil carbs in white vinegar though phos acid should work but only a minute or so or does dissolve the 'pot' metal. There are some very caustic carb solutions in parts stores that are flat toxic and dissolve mineral and metal deposits so doubt that's what you have.
While carbs in hand have some devoted entertainment and measure the bores and roundness and heights of spray tube, though Amals tests say spray tube don't matter.
After I cleaned mine up and buffed up a bit I sprayed clear wheel coat on them and so far 1000 miles of gas spills, looking shiney-er than uncoated dull gray.
I"ve got a spare bowl screw in pocket to install with locktite this time as came out twice to leave bowl hanging and poor response off idle but just fine throttling down the road till a gas stop leaking on the ground revealed it.
