Today the Great Race circa. 2018 stopped into our little town (TruroNS) for a noon time lunch break .... brought all the cars into downtown core and put on display ... pretty cool event , I believe 119 cars with 1 DOA .... brought them in , in batches .... after seeing all the great oldies .... got to say the fastback Mustang still rocks from NA and any Jag. does it for the Euro cars .... took our 5 year old grandson starting him into a lifetime of mechanical love/hate relationship with the ICE ..... Happy Canada Day to all my fellow Countrymen!!!
Posted from our back deck where thermometer say 40C looks like ‘bout 103F or the way we used to measure ...

Our big car race in Australia each October is the Bathurst 1000 but many years ago last one in 1985 was the Easter long weekend bike races at Bathurst it was a great weekend of motorcycles, drinking and having a great weekend but it got out of hand up on top of the mountain in the camping ground with thousands of bikers the cops built a police compound there was nothing else up there so what do you think would have happened at night time when there was only drunken bikers and lots of police in their riot gear as well media there stirring the mob up to get a story, of course the police got what they wanted,TRG training in all their full roit gear, if there was no police compound there would have never been any troubles at all, the town folk of Bathurst loved the bike weekend it was big money eurner for the town but of course the Goverment and police spoiled that for them and now the motorcycle weekend is now history, lucky I was there for the last one.

The Great Race is sponsored by Hagerty Insurance Co.and Hemmings Ltd. been held every other year beginning in 1980 ... a lot of the cars are resto-mods meaning body is in every respect original ... but the chassis , engine and ancillaries have been brought up to modern standards .... this year’s Race started in Buffalo NY and finished in Halifax NS about an hour south of where I am ... it is in fact a timed Rally style event broken into stages .... some very interesting cars one 1919 was chain drive and surprised me it had made it that far .... no bikes which was disappointing , still great for our little town to be on the big Map even for a few hours of a sunny hot Saturday .... first time the Race had been to our east Coast .. next day winner was crowned in Halifax a 1933 Ford truck ..
