I just wanted to thank everyone that gave me advice over the last few months. I was able to sort out the electrical problems and get the new carburetor properly adjusted. Starts first kick and idle perfectly at 800rpms. On the open road the acceleration is strong and clean. It's kind of weird, but I just marvel at how well it putts around town at just above idle, which was impossible 2 months ago. Here is picture from this evenings ride to the continental divide outside of Helena, Montana.

Cheers and best regards. Ride safe.

Congrads & enjoy. I remember that same feeling about 30 years ago when I bought & fitted a new set of Amals to my 72. I rebuilt the top end and put the new carbs on & following a manual after doing the time to really dial them in & balance them I was just so proud & amazed that it worked! It idled great & would run so smoothly I could go through a parking lot like three miles an hour and it would just glide. In some ways I think I was braver & more confident at working on the bikes as a kid then I am now. Montana must be beautiful this time of year. Only been there once as a 7 year old. My mother was born there in 1920 & grew up on a farm in billings & then in Bozeman before going into the Navy in WWII. I found a silver alto trumpet that was used in the marching band from Montana state college the same years my mother was there! I found it at a thrift store here in California ten years ago!! Go figure? Well happy ridding & please, more pictures of your bike with Montana backgrounds.
