Do you guys put any type of sealant like Teflon tape on the sump drain plug? Mine seems to slowly weep out the plug... Of course I have the same washer on there for years.

That T-tape may work in a pinch but only once at a time then falls apart, wads up to clog threads and could get inside to collect here and there. I don't remember a gasket on Combats so hope your model is that simple a fix, otherwise maybe a smear of Hylomar type sealant that don't glue the thing in there. KInd of a skill tester to me to nip up enough not to come out yet not so nipped it strips to come out.

I use a copper sealing washer on my combat's drain plug. Just tap it flat on the vise then re-anneal and re-use it.

+1 Just invest in a new copper crush washer (cheap) and problem should be solved.

Teflon tape (and other thread sealants) are meant for TAPERED PIPE THREADS ONLY. The drain plug is straight machine thread, with a gasket. I've slathered a whiff of Loctite 518 on the fibre gasket, dry as a bone.

Thanks Guys. I picked up a few new copper crush washers yesterday. I appreciate the input greatly.
