The best taps (ie no leaks when off) are the BAP taps as fitted to the late Coop Triumphs, not original but the pattern copies are not the best. The BAPs should be available at the Lanark Autojumble on 1st Feb at one of the Triumph stalls.

There are the orginals, copies and BAP's. The orginals are not available so go for the BAPs, I would go for BAP's even if the orginals available. I have 20 year old BAP's on mine and they are going fine, just the zinc plating has discoloured.

Just take one of your old fuel taps and cut a few lines across the threads with your die grinder or hack saw and then run them in and out a few times. That should clean up the threads good enough if thats what your trying to accomplish and its not going to cost $20 for a BSP tap?
The BAPs are just as bad. The brass repros are OK if you take them apart (snap ring) and lube the rubber with silicone grease every year. I don't mind doing this yearly maintenance for the price they go for.
