anyone want to swap a brushed dominator naked tank for a polished one (I have the polished one)

Blimey , that’s a good different type of first message , me riding past ur town on Sunday morning on way to the ACE CAFE .

get the wire wool out, must be easier and more "one off" but dont blame me if it goes pear shaped

Hello and welcome. Won't Norton brush it for you ? You would need new Norton labels.

Norton make these tanks by polishing them first and then brushing them.

They ‘brush’ then with fine grade of scotchbrite pads I believe.

So, as sacrilegious as it seems, you’d be doing nothing ‘wrong’ by doing the same.

I don't like 'brushed finish' on anything, should be confined to kitchen appliances :)

The problem with brushed is that it still marks and scuffs and can be difficult to remove these blemishes unless you use the same grade of abrasive as original, else you end up re-abrading the entire piece. I would get hold of a couple of different abrasive grades and experiment with the look and satinise it myself, then if it does get marked in the future it is easy to touch up.

It's also impossible to blind folks with the brushed finish, as you can do easily with the polished finish.
Also, a very clean, highly polished finish on your alloy tank sends a signal to ladies about your own person hygiene.
priceless.:D

Might consider swapping your ally tank for my titanium tank (don't tell him its not metal). Think of the weight save though, extra speed, less polishing etc

I got tired of the overly bling look of my 850 Cdo and took scotchbrite pads to some ridiculously well polished cNw components and my mirror polished primary chaincase and fork legs and more.

I used scotchbrite pads and WD40.

It’s a bit daunting on the first rub, but it’s not too difficult to get a nice sheen and then finish off with smooth long strokes, not that dissimilar to if you were brush painting.

However... it has to be said... I’ve not tried doing a £3k petrol tank !!

Not sure about the weight save, unless you count in the extra fuel the alloy tank can take!

I don't normally laugh in the mornings, thanks
