actually that date has been the same for as long as I've had the camera . its still the same
 
Brass. not solid, same as the original ones. advantage of brass is its a good base for the chrome
 
The originals were cast in monkey metal and over time the monkey tries to escape through the chrome, re chroming is not an option due to pitting. So brass is a much better option.
 
Well worth the price ..... better than original.

I had my pot metal badges professionally plated by a top notch shop ...... cost $300 US. Only had them plated because I am a stickler to retain original parts when possible.

Any idea on how they got the chrome to look good over the pot metal? Tons of undercoats?

Lots of sanding ... that is why they cost so much to plate. Possibly they had to copper coat to fill, then sand.

I have made 30 sets but am only sending 6 sets off to the chrome plater today 400 miles away. , I have fitted each emblem to my straight tank to confirm fitment before chrome plating.I dont know what the final cost will be but I expect it will be US$220 + shipping.These are better quality than the ones Norvil sells for $260 , I know this because I supplied him his stock quite some time ago.
