That's certainly interesting, and award-winning to boot. As they say though, “beauty is in the eye of the beholder.” Yeesh! o_O

Apart from the instrument binnacle I think it works..... Certainly draws attention to the engine, which was one of Vetter's maxims for motorcycle design.
Personally I find most 961's remind me of a filing cabinet, too much metal on too small wheels, which only works for me with a sympathetic paint job.
But... to counter that.. motorcycles are three dimension art, and sometimes two dimensional photos don't always do them justice.

I was just referencing his rationale behind the X75: 'The front end should be light and airy, the engine section triangular in shape, massive and powerful looking, tapering to a lighter rear.'
Regarding the engine: 'BSA tried to make it too compact and hide it away. If anything, you should exaggerate it.'

And then he went to Norton and designed the Challenge ;)

Not "why", but "why NOT?"

Then, you get a L-O-N-G list of reasons why not!
