Is there some kind of trick that needs to be used when attaching these two together (MKIII btw)? This appears to be a pretty straightforward job considering I'm just aligning the male end of cable to the female receiver in the tach drive; however, I cannot seem to get this right for some reason and it is driving me insane. I've done a lot of research in an attempt to have a functioning tach on my bike, but have not came up with anything that has helped. I have narrowed it down to this attachment point because the tach works fine when hooked up to a drill, and had it working for an hour Saturday after I fiddled with the attachment point but it stopped again. I even played with how far down I threaded the cable to the housing just in case it was bottoming out. Any help would be appreciated .

Hate to ask, but do you have all the parts, including the spade to square drive part?

I am putting the spade fitting from tach cable, and aligning it with the keyed receiver of the tach drive, then sliding the female collar down and threading into tach drive.

Well it could be the cable end is no longer square. :? Try running motor with cable end exposed not in instrument and observe for rotations.

Do you have this piece on the end of your cable?

Tach cable to tach drive fitment issue

As long as that spade fits on the cable and the cable is long enough all should be good...try pulling cable from outer housing and make sure of fit of spade to cable..If all that checks, out it may be a bad tach..

Yes I do have the fitting at the end of the cable. When I get off work, I'm going to go fittle with it some more and let you all know what happens.
