T140 kick start gears

I am trying to fit the kickstart ratchet gears and see that the inner gear has been making contact with big snap ring securing the bearing. This one has the ears for snap ring pliers, I would guess that the stock one had notched ends so it could be dug out of its housing. Correct?

Circlip is 57-4113:

Is the 57-1962 washer missing?

Weren‘t they without tabs originally like these below?

Even so, I doubt it’s you issue, I’m with LAB and his missing washer / spacer idea.

Yes, but if you were to lay one on top of the other I think there'd be metal in the same place.

It seems the washer isn't included in the kickstart ratchet 'kit'!

The washer IS missing and it is probably slightly thicker than the circlip. So now I have another problem. It appears that the ratchet won't ratchet...the two pieces wont spread far enough apart. I thought that since the big gear was hitting the circlip it was not allowed to clear the other gear. I will return to the problem in a couple of hours. The owner is showing up with a box or two of parts. Thanks for the exploded view. I was trying to time the shifting and ran into this problem.

I filed the circlip so it just missed the large ratchet gear. The washer has been ordered. But the big problem was some crud deposited on the spring in two places which stopped the sliding ratchet gear from moving far enough. I scraped it off and bingo! clearance.
