Installed an Emgo speedo drive a bit over a year ago, 1K miles. Worked perfectly. Very little waving. Nice and steady speedo needle. Yet the same damned thing happened as the one before it only sooner. Had almost 3 grand on that one. The cable pulles the brass threaded part out, gear falls out. Usually happens on a bump. Just purchased an LF Harris one at a good price. Which do you T140 owners prefer?

Generally, I‘d always take Harris over Emgo. Although IMHO Emgo is better than most other Taiwanese (etc) brands, which I’ll only use as a last resort or without knowing !

Sounds to me like you might have your speedo cable tied up to tight ...

It has nice slack. I may not have lubed it frequently enough. The bike sat for over 3 years unused after its restoration. Well, the Harris and the cable arrived. The Harris seems to be of superior quality as is the Aerco cable Just too hot and humid to want to work on it. It did work steadier than any I can remember since 1980. Only would swing from 69 to 71......so I'll guess I'm cruising at 70. The digital radar displays show it as quite accurate.

The Aerco cable as stated online and its box for T140D/Veglia needed modification. Had to snip a tad off the dial end and grind it down a bit to fit. Not a big deal. That said, made in England is not always precise. Good quality materials, just to long and too thick. I am expecting more from the LF Harris drive though. Good fit, solid construction. The speedo is very accurate and only waves barely 1mph in either direction over 65 mph. Man......I'm loving this bike. Runs like a Swiss watch.
