One of the push rods from the '72 Daytona I'm working on came out in two pieces. Does using a small amount of J-B Weld or epoxy to glue them back together sound like a reasonable repair?

I would be happy to do that as long as the cup is no more than a sliding fit on the shaft and not actually loose i.e. being able to rock the cup on the shaft from side to side.
As far as I'm aware, the cup is an interference fit onto the shaft when in new/good condition, so on the basis of being in compression when lifting the valve or having a total of approximately 0.010" clearance when following the base circle of the cam I think it should be ok. The cup at worst should be retained onto the shaft even if it came loose.
